A Hamptons retreat with about 400 feet of ocean frontage sold on Thursday for $55 million—several million more than its already hefty asking price, Mansion Global has learned.

The 4-acre estate in East Hampton, New York, went into contract just one month after it was listed for $52.5 million in July, according to listing records.

Designed by the well-known Hamptons architect Francis Fleetwood, the cedar shingle-clad residence has a bifurcated angled roof resembling two waves crashing, listing photos show. Inside, oversized windows frame views of the ocean and manicured grounds.

The 6,100-square-foot residence has five bedrooms and five full bathrooms. It also boasts several outdoor spaces on both levels of the home, including a loggia accessible by the main living area and a hexagonal overlook on the second floor.

The primary bedroom suite, which takes up a whole wing on the main floor, also boasts a sundeck, plus two en-suite bathrooms, a dressing room and an adjacent office, according to the listing.

Wood details and floors, plus exposed beams, can be found throughout the home’s interior, according to the listing. Although most of the home features a warm, neutral color palette, there’s an enclosed porch with kelly green trim that echoes the property’s verdant summer lawns.

Outside, there’s a gunite pool and spa, detached garage and direct beach access.

Hedgerow Exclusive Properties represented the seller, while Catherine Juracich of Douglas Elliman brought the buyer. Ms. Juracich declined to comment. Representatives from Hedgerow Exclusive Properties did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Mansion Global could not determine when the property last traded or for how much.
