The Most Expensive Hamptons Rental Is Going for$1 Million per Month

Though full of long beach stretches, stunning farmlands, picturesque golf courses, and other balmy amenities, perhaps no reputation characterizes the Hamptons quite like its lofty cost. And nothing confirms that reputation like this summer’s most expensive Hamptons rental, which is currently asking a mighty $1 million per month, according to the New York Post.
Located at 70 Cobb Lane on a private peninsula on Mecox Bay, the 11-bedroom, 28,000-square-foot estate is currently up for rent and listed through Hedgerow Exclusive Properties. The property is most expensive to rent in July, when the price is $1 million for the month, or about $32,258 per day. However, for anyone looking to rent during the 99 days between Memorial and Labor Day, the retreat grows notably cheaper, costing only $25,252 per day, or $2.5 million for the entire unofficial summer.
One only has to look at the estate’s swarm of amenities to better understand the high price tag. Most of the upstairs is dedicated to bedroom spaces, but the lower level is a study in at-home entertainment. Here, guests will find a 14-seat movie theatre, professional gym, sauna, steam room, massage room, two-lane bowling alley with a 12-seat viewing area, a half basketball court, indoor swimming pool, 350-bottle wine cellar, arcade, wet bar, and a 750-gallon shark tank. A pool, patio, and cabana complement the manicured grounds. Though the home offers views of Mecox Bay, it’s not a waterfront property, and according to Out East, a Hamptons’ real estate platform, the nearest beach is about a mile away.
The seaside getaway is located in Water Mill village within South Hampton. The unique area is not only known for being the only locale on the South Fork with both an operating wind and water mill, but also a favorite spot among celebrities. A-listers like Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere have owned or own houses in the area. For anyone eager to make some of these high-profile vacation neighbors their official ones, the home is also currently for sale and asking $59.5 million.
While 70 Cobb Lane’s July rent is astounding, there is another nearby home that could also claim the title for the most expensive Hamptons rental. Located at 376 Gin Lane, the property is cheaper in July—costing $950,000 for the month—but more for the whole summer at $2.6 million for Memorial through Labor Day.
